A Message from the FAI ‘The Football Association of Ireland is pleased to acknowledge the Republic of Ireland Soccer Supporters Club (London). The Association recognises the significant contribution made to Irish Football by the Club and its members over the past twenty years. The social role that the Club plays in the Irish community in London and throughout the South East region is applauded and the Association extends its good wishes for the continued success of the Club’. New League of Ireland side, Mervue United, winners of Pool Three, take on new club FC Carlow, who finished second in Pool Two, in Fahy's Field while Pool Four champions Bohemian welcome Pool Three runners-up Salthill Devon to the Dublin City University Grounds. Weekend climax to Under 20 League section...04/01/2009 Their is much speculation that the final quarter-final position in the Dr Tony O'Neill Under 20 League has gone to FC Carlow, following Sunday afternoon's two one home victory over Wexford Youths in Tullow. It would appear that FC Carlow have been awarded a 3-0 victory from their unplayed Pool Four game with Cobh Ramblers, to supercede Wexford Youths and reach the quarter-final stage, where Mervue United will play host on Sunday afternoon next. Play off positions in Under 20 League near completion...03/01/2009 The final series of fixtures in the Dr Tony O'Neill Under 20 League are set for this weekend to complete the League Section and confirm the quarter-finalists for the culmination of the competition. The crucial Pool Two meeting of Cork City and Kilkenny City went the way of the 'Leesiders' by two goals to nil and their quarter-final place is now secure, as is that of Dundalk who secured a one all draw with Pool Four winners Bohemian to enter the knock-out stage. Bari confirmed as venue for Italy fixture...03/12/2008 The Italian Football Federation has formally confirmed that the away Group 8 World Cup qualifier against Italy on 1st April 2009 will take place in the 58,000 capacity Stadio San Nicola in Bari. League of Ireland managerial movements...30/12/2008 The League of Ireland managerial merry-go-round is currently in full swing with the addition of Michael O'Neill to the Shamrock Rovers hotseat, being closely followed by the appointment of former Bohemian and Sligo Rovers manager Sean Connor, at newly promoted Dundalk. The south coast also sees change, with Stephen Henderson having moved east from Cobh Ramblers to Waterford United while the position at Longford Town has been filled by former goalkeeping star Alan Gough. The managerial vacancy still exists at Cobh Ramblers, while former International manager Brian Kerr, has been linked with the Cork City job. Ireland hold England in Four Nation Futsal Tournament...19/12/2008 The Republic of Ireland, playing only their second ever international fixture, came from behind to draw three each with hosts England in an invitational Four Nation Futsal Tournament at Loughborough University tonight. A brace from Dane Massey of Bray Wanderers and one from Longford Town striker Alan Lynch helped secure an excellent draw. Manager Derek O'Neill will send his side out to face Libya in their second fixture this afternoon (Saturday) with renewed confidence. John Morling is new Underage International Manager...17/12/2008 The FAI today confirmed that, former Peterborough United Coach, John Morling will succeed Vincent Butler, who formally retires in May 2009, as manager of the Republic of Ireland Under 15 and Under 16 teams. John Morling has been Player Development Manager for the FAI for a number of years and will continue to oversee that role. |
