Irish Women bound for Moscow

Noel King, Manager of the Republic of Ireland Senior Women’s International Team has announced a squad of eighteen for the visit to Moscow where Russia provide the opposition in their first Group Four qualifying fixture for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2007.

In preparation for the World Cup qualifying campaign the team entertained the Faroe Islands in a friendly played recently at the Oscar Traynor Centre and courtesy of two goals from Carmel Kissane of UCD were successful.

Ireland have been drawn in a very difficult Group 4 with defending World Champions, Germany who recently added the European Championship played in England to their trophy cabinet. In addition to Russia, the Group also contains Scotland and Switzerland.

The squad will assemble at the AUL Complex on Saturday 2 July 2005 for training over a number of days and will depart Dublin Airport on Wednesday 6 July 2005 for the trip to Moscow. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 15.00 hours, local time in the Moskvich Stadium.
