Shelbourne top as Derry concede record

Champions Shelbourne climbed to the top of the Eircom Premier Division with a comfortable 2 nil victory over Longford Town at Flancare Park. Their ascent was made possible by the shock defeat of Derry City by Shamrock Rovers at the Brandywell. Derry conceded their first goals of the league campaign in the 2-3 defeat.

In the weekend's other matches, bottom club Finn Harps went down to a 1 nil defeat at the hands of a still out of sorts Bohemians side. In the Dublin derby, St Patrick's Athletic defeated UCD by 3 goals to 2 while resurgent Bray Wanderers defeated Waterford United by 2 goals to 1. Drogheda travelled to Cork and came away with all three points with a 1 nil success.
