Division One leaders share the spoils…

Joint leaders of the First Division, Cobh Ramblers and Sligo Rovers played out a 1-1 draw at St Colman’s Park in the sixth series of Eircom League fixtures. The visitors from the North West took the lead on 23 minutes when Cobh defender, John Hayes sliced a cross from Fahroudin Kudozovic into his own net. The lead was short lived as six minutes later Graham Carey fired home the equaliser for Cobh.

In the weekend’s other fixtures, there were 1-0 home successes for Galway United and Kildare County over Dundalk and Athlone Town respectively while Limerick and Dublin City shared two goals in Hogan Park and the Sunday afternoon match between Monaghan United and Kilkenny City remained scoreless.
