Winners Cork City

The draw for the fourth staging of the Setanta Sports Cup took place at the Radisson Hotel, Dublin Airport on 17 January 2008. The competition features four representatives from both the Carnegie League and the Eircom League of Ireland. It's divided into two groups with the top two in each group qualifying for the semi-final stage. The competition offers significant prize money with the winners receiving €150,000 and €80,000 going to the runners-up. Each participating club also receives €20,000 from the outset.

Qualifiers for the 2008 competition are: Cliftonville, Dungannon Swifts, Glentoran and Linfield from The Carnegie Premier League with Cork City, Derry City, Drogheda United and St Patricks Athletic representing the Eircom League of Ireland.

The competition starts on Tuesday 26 February 2008 with the opening Group 1 fixtures pitting holders Drogheda United against Cliftonville at United Park, while Dungannon Swifts will entertain Cork City in Stangmore Park. The second and third series of fixtures in Group 1 will take place on Tuesday 18 March 2008 and Monday 14 April 2008.

The Group 2 ties starts on Monday 10 March 2008 with Carnegie League champions Linfield hosting Derry City and St Patrick's Athletic welcoming Glentoran to Richmond Park. The second and third series of fixtures in Group 2 will take place on Monday 7 April 2008 and Tuesday 15 April 2008.
