Brighton & Hove Albion 1-0 Leicester City

Barnsley 3-2 Derby County

Senior international Paul Green, a mainstay in midfield for Derby County, following his return from injury was not in the squad this evening but teenage midfield colleague Jeff Hendrick, who returned to the starting eleven for their weekend FA Cup defeat by Stoke City, following his recovery from an ankle injury, retained his position on a very disappointing evening.

Treacy however, does appear to have lost the confidence of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni.

Barnsley 1-3 Millwall

Senior goalkeeper David Forde had an extremely disappointing return to the starting eleven for Millwall in their last league outing, as following the red card dismissal of two of his team mates, his side crumbled to a six nil home defeat by Birmingham City. A comfortable midweek FA Cup replay victory over League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge went some way towards healing the wounds, while this successful trip to Yorkshire was even more restorative.

Birmingham City 3-0 Watford

Following completion of their European campaign, Birmingham City, for whom midfielder Keith Fahey has been consistent in midfield, have begun to climb the Championship table and now lie just outside the play-off positions with a match in hand. Buoyed by their midweek FA Cup replay victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers, they further consolidated their league position with this comfortable three nil victory over Watford at St Andrew's on Saturday afternoon.

Blackpool 2-1 Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace had Ireland Under 21 striker Sean Scannell dismissed for a second yellow card offence in their one all draw with visitors Leeds United on Saturday last, so he missed out on this trip to the North West. Reading 0-1 Hull City

Under 21 international Robert Brady, on loan from Manchester United, was the Hull City hero with the only goal against the side who started the day above them on goal difference only. Reading centre back Alex Pearce has been the subject of recent speculation concerning a possible call-up to the Ireland squad, post EURO 2012.

West Ham United 2-1 Nottingham Forest

Under 21 full back Greg Cunningham, whose loan to Nottingham Forest from Manchester City has been extended to the end of the season, was forced to leave the action after little more than twenty minutes of this afternoon's defeat at West Ham United.
