RISSC (London) - Twenty Fifth Anniversary Celebration
The Republic of Ireland Soccer Supporters Club (London) will celebrate the Twenty Fifth Anniversay of its foundation at a Gala Function in the Bentley Room of the Crown Moran Hotel, Cricklewood, London NW2 on the evening of Saturday 3 October 2009. Live Premier Division action on Setanta Ireland tonight...04/07/2009
The cameras of Setanta Ireland will be in Richmond Park at 8.00pm this evening to provide live coverage of the League of Ireland Premier Division clash of Dublin rivals St Patrick's Athletic and Shamrock Rovers. The home side will be seeking revenge for League and EA Sports Cup defeats inflicted by their local rivals earlier this season.

Second and third placed Sporting Fingal and UCD will be aiming to close the gap to League of Ireland First Division leaders Shelbourne when they travel to take o Finn Harps and Kildare County respectively this evening.

Leading lights in Premier Division action tonight...03/07/2009
Three clubs at the summit of the League of Ireland Premier Division resumed their campaigns with away day adventures this Friday evening. Defending champions Bohemian extended their lead with a three one success from their short coastal trip to Bray Wanderers while nearest challengers Derry City went down to the only goal for Dundalk in Oriel Park. The coastal emphasis continued with Cork City collecting the points with a two nil victory from their trip to face Galway United.

Shelbourne consolidate lead at First Division summit...03/07/2009
League of Ireland First Division leaders Shelbourne extended the gap at the summit with a seven nil trouncing of league newcomers Mervue United in Tolka Park this evening while Wexford Youths consolidated their current fifth position with a one nil victory over Athlone Town in Ferrycarrig Park.

Disappointment for Sligo Rovers in Europa League...02/07/2009
Sligo Rovers went down to a disappointing two one home defeat to KS Vllaznia of Albania in the first qualifying round of the Europa League this evening. The home side dominated the first half and should really have gone ahead when Boco's shot hit the crossbar just before the interval. The visitors took the lead on 69 minutes and six minutes later doubled their advantage through an Alan Keane own goal. The drama was not yet ended for Keane as his 81st minute penalty hit the crossbar and was cleared. With two minutes of normal time remaining Sligo were awarded another penalty with the visiting goalkeeper being red carded. Rafael Cretaro made no mistake from the spot to give 'The Bit o Red' just a glimmer of hope for the second leg in Shkoder on Thursday next 9th July.

Monaghan United kick start League resumption...02/07/2009
Following the summer break, the League of Ireland resumed this evening with First Division side Monaghan United scoring a one nil victory over visitors Limerick to leapfrog their opponents in the league table. The winning strike came after twelve minutes courtesy of David Freeman.

Sligo Rovers break new ground in Europa League...02/07/2009
The Showgrounds will play host at 7.00pm on Thursday evening to the opening fixture in the new Europa League when Sligo Rovers take on KS Vllaznia of Albania in the first qualifying round. The second leg is set for the town of Shkoder on Thursday 9 July 2009. Should Sligo progress, they would then travel to face Rapid Vienna from Austria in the second qualifying round on Thursday 16th July with the return leg in the Showgrounds on Thursday 23rd July 2009.

FAI AGM Festival of Football 2009 - Monaghan...29/06/2009
The week long Festival of Football, preceding the 2009 AGM of the Football Association of Ireland, kicks off at 10.00am this Monday morning with the NIB FAI Summer Soccer Schools in Kingspan Century Park, Monaghan. From noon onwards, a whole series of events will take place throughout Carrickmacross culminating in a Presentations and Social Night in The Fiddlers at 9.00pm.

Deferred Setanta Sports Cup still on the brink...29/06/2009
The Organising Committee and the nine participating clubs met last week to discuss the situation surrounding the postponement of the 2009/2010 Setanta Sports Cup competition. Following the collapse of Setanta Sports, it is reported that the Setanta Ireland division of the broadcaster is seeking to secure the future of their Irish operation and if successful would be positively disposed to the continuation of the competition.

Europa draws for Derry City and St Patrick's Athletic...22/06/2009
The draw for the second qualifying round of the new Europa League sees Derry City paired with Skonto Riga of Latvia while St Patrick's Athletic will face the winner of the first qualifying round tie between Valletta of Malta and Keflavik from Iceland.

Champions League trip to Salzburg for Bohemian...22/06/2009
League of Ireland champions Bohemian FC have been paired with Salzburg of Austria, the last club side of International Team Manager Giovanni Trapattoni, in today's draw for the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

Cyprus qualifier to be played in Nicosia...22/06/2009
The Cypriot FA has confirmed that the South Africa 2010 World Cup Qualifier against Cyprus scheduled for Saturday 5 September 2009 will be played in the GSP Stadium, Nicosia and not as previously indicated Larnaca.

'Monday Night Soccer' live on RTE 2 tomorrow...21/06/2009
RTE Presenter Con Murphy will be in the chair at 8.00pm on Monday evening for the 'MNS' show featuring highlights of the League of Ireland Premier Division fixtures played over the weekend. The show may also be viewed live online at www.rte.ie and will be available within the RTE archive for the remainder of the week.
